Cartha Queen’s Park Rugby Club has a proud history and a strong supporter base. As a club with a strong presence in several categories including women’s, men’s, youth and mini rugby they enjoy support from all of these groups. As part of the club’s commitment to their supporters, they identified a need for a security partner to support them at their major annual event. For the past 5 years May has been an important date in our calendar as we have provided event security for their annual Glasgow 7s rugby event. They needed a partner who had the flexibility to provide the right number of experienced Security Guards for a single event and who could work as part of the planning team in the lead up to the event.

To ensure everything is in order in plenty of time we start planning with the rugby club 2 months in advance of the event, we know from our experience that early co-ordination helps to ensure a smooth event. We work together to identify the most effective locations to place Security Guards from the hospitality area to the main entrance road. We allocate duties including issuing wrist bands, directing visitors as they arrive and providing general visitor information. As the site has no perimeter fence, we know that our guards have to be prepared to re-direct spectators to the main entrance.

The event organisers were looking for a security partner who could provide the right level of skill and experience to ensure the event ran smoothly for the 5,000 supporters attending. The event has a packed schedule with 16 teams going through their paces to become the annual champion of the NCS Glasgow City 7s as well as the final of the U16s 7s tournament.
