Whitelee Windfarm is the UK’s largest onshore windfarm located just 20 minutes from central Glasgow on Eaglesham Moor. With 215 turbines generating up to 539 megawatts of electricity – enough to power almost 300,000 homes – the site has more than 130 km of trails as well as an onsite visitor centre.

When Scottish Power appointed Prysmian Cables, the UK’s largest domestic cable manufacturer, to take on the mammoth task of laying power cables to power the wind turbines, Prysmian needed the support of a specialist security team. Having worked with DCL Security on other sites providing Security Guards and Keyholding services, Prysmian were confident they could trust the DCL team to deliver the level of tight security that the Whitelee windfarm project demanded. Determined to complete the project as safely and securely as possible, the DCL team was able to support Prysmian by providing Security Guards, an onsite Security Supervisor and vehicle patrol of the huge site.
